Review by Does everything for Expresso AG1 3.6-Inch Automotive and Golf GPS Navigator
Rating:
I just upgraded my old Garmin Street pilot and purchased the Expresso AG1. This GPS does everything compared to the dinosaur Garmin that I paid $450 for years ago. This new GPS is so sleek and does everything and fits in my pocket. The Expresso has my local golf course imaged perfectly with the overview option. The detailed shot planning is awesome feature as well. For all of the capabilities that this can do is a steal for $250.

I bought this GPS unit after my new Garmin failed. Unfortunately, although the Expresso received glowing reviews here on Amazon, the product did not work as advertised. The device was cumbersome to use and frequently locked up while en route to my destination. It was hard to search for points of interest. Finally, it took over 30 minutes for the GPS to acquire a satellite signal after the unit was turned on. Since I havent had much luck with high end Garmin units lately (had the 3790t, which died) and the Expresso is a piece of junk, I opted to get a Droid X from Verizon Wireless. In my opinion, this is the best and most reliable GPS you can buy (not to mention cell phone). Google maps is free and is an EXCELLENT GPS program (very fast, smooth, and acquires satellites quickly). I use my Droid X with the windshield mount from Verizon Wireless as my new GPS now and I’m very happy with it.

I have had my new Expresso GPS-Golf unit now for about 2 weeks. Thus far, the GPS peice of the device has worked perfect. What most stands out is the display itself(it looks like HDTV on a GPS)and the speed which is blazing fast. I also loaded up my nearby courses with ease. I only have a single round under my belt with the unit but, the unit perfromed as advertised. As a side note, the unit has the ability to play music, watch movies and comes with Zagat dining guide for the person who travels.

product did not come with preloaded courses. Had to call tech support multiple times before they resolved it, then had to update new firmware. I have to hard reset each time prior to use. All paid downloads will not open. I have given up on this product and have moved it to the shelf. Will purchase more reputable name next time.

I found the Expresso GPS incredibly easy to use. The video tutorials are a great help and compared to my old GPS this one was much faster. My wife and I were on our way back from the airport and tapped on the Zagat recommendations for Italian restaurants and found the most incredible restaurant, it is now one of our favorite places. When I registered with iGolf I was given the option to upgrade to the 2.0 version on their website at no charge. It was very easy to download and included all the golf courses for the US and Canada. I loaned the Expresso to my friend so he could play golf with it and he could not stop talking about how useful it actually is on the golf course and he always thought the golf GPS’s were just a waste of money before using this one.
